Gavazzi: green not just the logo
We will be closed for Christmas Holidays from Dec. 23rd till Jan 6th included
Although at Gavazzi all processes are already activities with a low environmental impact, it was decided to implement an Integrated Management System to encompass the environmental safeguard in addition to the Quality System and the Health and Safety System.
The strategy is grounded on three points: hydrocarbon reduction, energy efficiency and sustainable materials.
REDUCTION OF HYDROCARBONS
The reduction of use of hydrocarbon sources and therefore of CO2 emissions is one company’s contribution to reducing the impact of human activities on the climate, in view of the global zeroing of emissions.
Gavazzi focused on several work lines, such as the increase in the production of energy from renewable sources, the gradual switching to electric company means of transport and monitoring of transport and CO2 impact through the request to suppliers of certifications relating to vehicles and pollution indices.
ENERGETIC EFFICIENCY
An ongoing monitoring and diagnosis system of the energy consumption was implemented in 2020, making it possible to launch consumption efficiency projects.
Some examples of projects implemented in recent years are the renewal of the production machinery, the renewal of the lighting and indoor air treatment systems and the renovation of the production sites (thermal insulation and double glazing).
Furthermore, a project for the reuse of the heat produced by the exhaust fumes from the chemical plant in Arcore is being carried out.
SUSTAINABLE MATERIALS
At Gavazzi, attention has been put in specific work lines, such as the research and the inclusion of new recyclable packaging materials together with the study and the use of sustainable raw materials in production cycles. Gavazzi has successfully concluded the audit conducted by the certifying body ICEA (Institute for Ethical and Environmental Certification) to obtain the GRS (Global Recycle Standard) ethical-environmental certification for the use, in our production process, of recycled raw materials.
